Early winter is Capricorn season, and its Woodland Wonders animal totem is The Beaver.
Capricornucopia
Beavers working fevered pitch, engineering mud and sticks, crafting what no others can: magnificently woven dams.
With wits as sharp as iron-strong teeth, they gnaw at tree trunks tirelessly. Their diligence will finally pay them huge rewards, as they can stay inside their fortress tucked away from interlopers, thieves and pests and other uninvited guests.
After toiling they dive deep to reach their cozy den to sleep among their loved ones, safe and warm, sheltered from intruders’ harm.
Snuggled at each other’s breasts, they close their eyes and take their rest.
Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn represented by Muskrat energy.
“Saturn is the bitter pill that when swallowed makes us well.”
Due Diligence
Little iron teeth, chewing soggy sticks,
no other creature either wantses or uses.
Solitary soul, gnawing at life,
nourished by a tedium all others eschewses.
Capricorn’s element is Earth, represented by Earthworm energy
Capricorn’s motto is “I USE”
Determination
I’ve searched for poems on duty and responsibility,
hard work, nose-to-the-grindstone, diligent tenacity
in facing chores, undaunted, with a perspicacity
worthy of celebrating Beaver’s personality.
No odes To Blind Ambition! nor To Raw Obstinacy!
No epigrams to Sieze the Day! With Practicality!
No coaxing verse to “Verk! Verk! Verk!” composed as elegy,
Nor poignant poems proclaiming, “Sing We Now of Drudgery!”,
Were found in any books of rhyme or rare anthologies.
For failing in my mission, I make no apology;
It seems that sweat and toil have eluded poetry!
