Froggy and Eunice

Chapter II

Froggy and Eunice do the birds and the bees

Froggy and Eunice were sitting on their favorite stone wall, watching the maple leaves drift slowly down from a blue October sky.

“Froggy?”

“Yes, Eunice.”

“Where did I come from?”

“Oh dear,” thought Froggy. “Now I’m in for it.”

“Welll…..” said Froggy, clearing her throat and smoothing down her dress in several places. “You seeee….” said Froggy, taking her time, and trying to arrange her thoughts.

Froggy then got a determined look in her eye, took a deep breath, and began to speak very quickly. “Your mother and father met each other and realized they cared for one another very much and the moon was very full and they flew up in the air and did a beautiful twirling dance in the moonlight where they spun around and around and held each other very tight and became as close as they could possibly be, AND……(here Froggy inhaled, as she was beginning to run out of breath)….three weeks later your mom laid some eggs and you hatched out of one and….VOILA! Here you are!”

“Oh,” said Eunice in a small voice, looking very bewildered. Pointing at a lichen-covered log, a few feet away, she said, “I thought I came from that direction.”

I thought I came from that direction.
